|---|
Eyes of red with the sting of tears, Again I take the stand, My innocence again to proclaim, And once again be damned.
My shadow, my only comfort, As Death they usher in, Laughter stings like lashes, My trial will now begin.
I stand in lonely corner, Hearing friends from now and past, They try to help and save me, Their voice, the final blast.
Bring down the judge’s hammer, Slide down the coffin lid, Add one more nail into my heart, “Be at an end”, I bid.
“There is no end to torment”, I heard once said of Hell, But I’m on Earth, a human, Torment: my mortal shell.
Gone, all sense of honour, Gone, all sense of faith, For I’ve lost all sense of purpose, My soul, a wandering wraith.
Come now wings of darkness, Life me from this place, End my mortal suffering, See the pain across my face.
Eyes of red with the sting of tears, Life’s journey at an end, Sentence has been passed on me, And now, farewell my friend.
One last golden sunrise, One last kiss to hold, One more chance at memory, My tale, not quite yet told.
As I sit here waiting, For life’s last parting blow, I ask you not to cry for me, Just simply let me go. |
